Tauhou - シルバー・アイ

Nelson, New Zealand

Nikon D200
Ai-S Nikkor 300mm F4.5 ED-IF
Tamron SP AF 2X Teleconverter (300F)
F11, 1/30, ISO-400

I can't believe I did this with hand-held. 300mm + 2x teleconverter on DX camera = 900mm effective focal length with 1/30 of shutter speed. Not bad at all! Well, this is the most sharp one out from about 10 trial shots. Obviously better with tripod, no doubt about that.

Compare to the reflex 500mm lens, I prefer this combination to gain 500mm+. it's mainly by bokeh that rendered by the reflex. This is more natural than doughnuts rings all over (that was fun or effective in some case).

Nice Shot! I love the "sepia" tones, but to have taken this shot hand held, is incredible. The white eye is a lovely little bird, and never sits still for long, never seen one in Sydney. Wonder how the photo looks in colour?
Must be coming into Fantail season as well? Well done, Ben! Lesley Expat Kiwi

I envy your steady hand! Both images are great. In colour the light and shades of green are fantastic, in monochrome, the soft tonality you selected works wonders. All in all, very nice work!

This is charming, Ben. I really prefer this sepia version rather than the color one. I think the soft tones suit this fluffy little character more than the vivid hues in the original color shot.

Thanks. I really surprised to see this image turns out sharp enough to use.
Yes, I also like this B&W tone. I made this based on one of the split tone preset that mimicking the Lith Effect. I think It suite the subject very well,
